Brolgas flying beside the Highway

We finally made it to Karumba.  The distance travelled from Cooroy to Karumba is 3313km. Temperatures in top 30's to 40C.  High humidity.

We stayed  in Karumba for a couple of nights.  This is crocodile country – ocean or river swimming is definitely not an option.  The sunset over the estuary is spectacular.  A small fishing town with an exceptional tavern right on the waterfront.

However Karumba is also a major port for exporting cattle and zinc.  For many residents, boating and fishing is their life.  Many houses had boats in the yards, quite a few were bigger than the houses!
