We are now at Ellis Beach, one of Cairns Northern Beaches.  (Temp today 30C +)  We first stayed here 35 years ago when we towed a caravan up from Brisbane when the kids were young - Lucy 2, James 7 & Jarrod 9.  Dave will remember the trip well as he was out on holiday from UK and he came with us.  It was quite a journey back then because much of the Bruce Highway was single lane and it was a case of 2 wheels off the bitumen if you met a vehicle coming the other way!  Ellis Beach Caravan Park where we are staying was new then.  It still has a beautiful position right on the beachfront.  We are about 2m from the beach!

Ellis Beach with Double Island in the Distance
(Another crowded beach)!
Ellis Beach where the Mountains meet the Ocean
The mountains come right down to the sea here.  This is the road to Port Douglas - an exceptionally scenic route.
