Yesterday (Friday) we left Horseshoe Bay
Linnie at Horshoe Bay

and moved on up the coast to Towsnville - just over 200km and are staying at the Rowes Bay caravan park.  It is getting seriously hot now - I can't imagine what the Outback is going to be like!!!  We stopped on the way up at Home Hill for morning tea - it is a sugar town with a large
Sugar Mill.  It is surrounded with fields of sugar cane. Next town was Ayr.

Here I think I should point out for those who have not visited Queensland that the Bruce Highway north of Cooroy is the main highway north.  There are no motorways and in fact from Cooroy there is next to no dual carriage way.  The highway is just 2 lanes (one each way) with the occasional overtaking lane.  Towns are few are far between so you have make sure you have enough fuel.  Running alongside the Bruce for most of the way is the main railway north (again most of it is single track which is used by The Tilt train (the fast train) The Sunlander and the Queenslander plus all the freight trains.  Passing is managed at specific places.

For the benefit of Colin, I have included a pic of Mount Elliot - one your forebearers must have passed this way!

Mount Elliot

Had to go shopping in the arvo in Townsville for a new camera as mine has been playing up for a while now (like for 9 months).  And No, RWR it is not a flashy one like yours - just your run-of-the-mill point and click!  But I do try to "frame" it as you taught me! - Bit hard when taken from a travelling car on a bumpy road!!

Walked the length of the esplanade & back this morning. Hot & sunny - blue ocean.  Will spend 2 nights here so will add some pix of Townsville taken with my new camera hopefully.
